چکیده

The supervisory control theory (SCT) is examined in a non-deterministic setting. We show that language controllability of a supervisor is not necessarily equivalent to state controllability when the supervisor is non-deterministic. We give necessary and suucient conditions for when equivalence holds. The input/output interpretation of the SCT is also examined in a non-deterministic setting. It is known that for a supervisor to act as a controller generating commands for the plant, the supervisor has to be inverse state control-lable. We give suucient conditions for when inverse state controllability is equivalent to inverse language controllability. In systems with concurrently competing production sequences, such as exible manufacturing systems and multipurpose batch plants, the speci-cation typically becomes non-deterministic where several products compete for the same production resource. However, unless the plant is only partially observable, it is normally modeled as a deterministic discrete event process. We give necessary and suu-cient conditions for the existence of a (possibly) non-deterministic supervisor in this special case.

Non-blocking supervisory control under bounded time constraints based on non-deterministic timed transition models

A non-blocking supervisory control problem to meet bounded time constraints for nondeterministic real-time discrete event systems (DESs) is addressed. To this end, notions of trace controllability and time controllability are introduced for the non-deterministic real-time DESs with respect to a timed language specification representing a bounded time constraint. The existence conditions of a no...

Supervisory Control of a Hybrid AC/DC Micro-Grid with Load Shedding Based on the Bankruptcy Problem

In this paper, a supervisory controller is proposed to manage the power flow in a hybrid AC/DC micro-grid for both grid-connected and disconnected modes. When the hybrid AC/DC micro-grid is connected to the utility grid, power surplus or shortage leads to power trade between the micro-grid and the utility grid. In the grid-disconnected mode, the renewable power sources (wind and solar generatio...

Reducing an Operational Supervisory Control Problem by Decomposition for Deterministic Pushdown Automata

The purpose of Supervisory Control Theory (SCT) is to synthesize a controller for a plant and a specification such that the desired closed-loop behavior is enforced. Effective solvers have been constructed in the past for the setting of plants and specifications modeled by Deterministic Finite Automata (DFA). We extend the domain of the specification to Deterministic Pushdown Automata (DPDA) an...

A note on controllability of deterministic context-free systems

In this paper, we prove that the most important concept of supervisory control of discrete-event systems, the controllability property, is undecidable for two deterministic context-free languages K and L, where L is prefix-closed, even though K is a subset of L. If K is not a subset of L, the undecidability follows from the work by Sreenivas. However, the case where K is a subset of L does not ...

Extending Supervisory Controller Synthesis to Deterministic Pushdown Automata - Enforcing Controllability Least Restrictively

In this paper a step towards the generalization of supervisory control theory to situations where the specification is modeled by a deterministic pushdown automaton (DPDA) is provided. In particular, this paper presents an algorithm to calculate the largest controllable marked sublanguage of a given deterministic context free language (DCFL) by least restrictively removing controllability probl...
